Privacy Policy: Card to Follow-up

Developer: Sonith. Contact: sonythm@gmail.com. Effective date: 2026-10-16.

Card to Follow-up (package com.sonith.cardfollowup) is an Android app that reads visiting cards and reminds you to follow up.

Summary

  • No account, no server, no backend. We do not receive your data.
  • Everything you scan or type is stored on your phone.
  • No ads, no analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking.
  • The app's own code makes no network requests.

What the app stores on your phone

In a local SQLite database inside the app's private storage:

  • Contacts from cards: name, title, company, phone, email, website, address.
  • Where you met, notes, tags, follow-up dates, outcomes and the follow-up timeline.
  • Your settings, such as reminder time, gap, quiet hours and morning summary.

Photos of the cards you scan or import are copied into a "card-photos" folder in the same private storage.

Reading card text

Text is read on the phone with Google ML Kit text recognition, through Google Play services. The app does not send card images or text to us or to any server of ours. Google Play services may download the text recognition model to your phone the first time it is used. That is a model download, not your data.

Network calls

The app makes none itself. Things you start yourself can reach other services:

  1. WhatsApp. If you tap WhatsApp for a contact, the phone opens https://wa.me/ followed by that contact's phone number. WhatsApp, or your browser, handles it under their own terms.
  2. Sharing and export. If you export a vCard or CSV file, the Android share sheet opens and the file goes only to the app you pick. A vCard can include the card photo.
  3. Phone contacts export. If you choose it, the app creates or updates entries in your phone's contacts. They sync according to your phone's contacts settings, not through this app.

Permissions and why

  • Camera (CAMERA): to photograph visiting cards. Photos stay on the phone.
  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show follow-up reminders and the morning summary. If you refuse, reminders show only inside the app.
  • Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM) and start on boot (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): so reminders arrive at the time you chose and return after a restart.
  • Contacts (READ_CONTACTS, WRITE_CONTACTS): only when you export to your phone's contacts. The app asks at that moment and does not read your contacts for any other purpose.
  • Gallery import uses the Android system picker. The app has no broad photo or file access.
  • Added by libraries and not used for any feature: network and Wi-Fi state, wake lock, vibrate.

Analytics and ads

None.

Sharing

We do not sell, share or receive your data. Data leaves the phone only through actions you take, described above.

Backups

Android may include the app's database and card photos in your device backup (Google backup, if you have it on). This is controlled by your phone settings.

Deleting your data

  • Delete one contact from its detail screen, or delete queued cards from the queue.
  • Settings, Delete all data removes every contact, follow-up, tag and setting.
  • Uninstalling removes the app's data.
  • Exported files and phone contacts are separate copies. Delete them where you saved them.

Children

The app is for business use and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

A changed policy will be published at the same address with a new effective date.
