Move-In Report Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-17 App: Move-In Report (com.sonith.moveinreport), version 0.1.0 Developer: Sonith Contact: sonythm@gmail.com Published at: https://sonythm.github.io/sonith-apps/move-in-report/

Short version

Your photos and notes stay on your phone. The developer does not receive any of it. The Android build blocks the internet permission, so the app makes no network calls. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting. Something leaves the phone only when you choose to share it from the share sheet.

What the app stores on your device

  • Properties: name, address, landlord name, phone and email, rent, deposit, rent due day, move-in and lease end dates, notes.
  • Reports: the Move-in and Move-out reports, their rooms, checklist items, ratings, notes, key counts and meter readings.
  • Photos: pictures you take with the camera or choose from the gallery. The app copies them into its own storage on the phone and records the time it received each one, an optional caption and any marks you draw on it.
  • Signatures: finger drawings of the tenant and landlord signature, with the names you type.
  • Deposit notes: the lines, notes and amounts you type in the deductions helper.
  • Settings: reminder choices and times, quiet hours, PDF layout.
  • Exported files: PDFs and backup files you create are kept in the app's storage until you delete them.

All of this is in a local database and in the app's storage folder. The app adds no encryption beyond your phone's own storage protection.

What the app does not do

  • It does not connect to the internet and does not request the internet permission.
  • It does not read your location, contacts, microphone or other files. The app does not read location data from photos. A photo taken by the camera app may carry its own location tag if you switched that on in the camera settings, and it would then stay inside the stored picture file.
  • It does not use advertising, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services, and it does not have accounts.
  • It does not back up to cloud services (Android auto-backup is turned off for this app).

Permissions

  • Camera: used only when you tap Take photo. If you refuse it you can add pictures from the gallery, which needs no permission.
  • Notifications: used to show the reminders you switch on. They are created on the phone. If you refuse, the rest of the app works.

Sharing

A PDF, a text summary or a backup file leaves the phone only when you pick Share and choose an app. What that app does with it is covered by its own policy. The PDF contains the photos, notes, signatures and names you put in the report.

Photo times

The time shown on a photo is when the app received it from the camera. It is a personal record. It is not a legal certificate and the app does not claim it is legal proof.

Deposit notes

The deposit notes screen is a notes helper. It is not legal advice.

Deleting your data

  • Delete a photo, item, room, report or property in the app: its photo files are deleted too.
  • Settings, Delete all data removes the database, all photo files, all PDFs and backups made by the app and all scheduled reminders.
  • Uninstalling the app removes its data from the phone. Copies you already shared stay where you sent them.

Backups

The backup file contains your data but not the photo files, only the records of the photos (time, caption, notes). Restoring on another phone therefore shows the photos as missing. Keep the PDF for a portable copy.

Children

The app is for adults and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at the address above with a new effective date.
