Privacy Policy: Screenshot to Calendar

Effective date: 2026-10-16 App: Screenshot to Calendar, version 0.1.0, package com.sonith.screenshotcalendar Developer: Sonith. Contact: sonythm@gmail.com

Summary

Screenshot to Calendar reads dates from screenshots and text on your phone and adds events to your calendar. The developer does not receive your data. The app has no account, no analytics, no ads and no crash reporting. The app has no code that sends data over the internet.

How text is read

Text in images is read on your phone with Google ML Kit text recognition. The recognition models are part of the app. The image is not uploaded by this app.

Network

The app makes no network calls. It has no hosts it connects to. Fonts are bundled in the app.

What the app stores on your phone

In a local database in the app's private storage:

  • Events you added or drafted: title, start and end time, location, reminder, status, and the id of the calendar event.
  • The text read from each screenshot or pasted, the name of the app it was shared from, and a reference to the shared image.
  • Your settings: chosen calendar, default reminder and event length, clock style, notification settings, demo mode.

The app adds no encryption of its own on top of Android's app-private storage.

Your calendar

  • The app asks for calendar permission (READ_CALENDAR and WRITE_CALENDAR) to list your writable calendars, to create the event you confirm, and to check or update events the app created.
  • Events are written to the calendar on your phone. If that calendar syncs to an account such as Google Calendar, the calendar provider syncs the event under its own privacy policy.
  • If you turn on "attach screenshot", the event notes include the text that was read and a local file reference to the image. The image itself is not copied into the calendar by this app.
  • Without calendar permission you can still read and review dates, and make an .ics file to share.

Notifications

Notifications are local. The app makes them on your phone. There is no push service.

  • The app asks for the Android notification permission (POST_NOTIFICATIONS). Android 13 and newer shows a prompt.
  • Types: event reminders, a result notice when a shared screenshot is read in the background ("Found 2 events in your screenshot"), and an optional weekly digest (off by default).
  • Reminders and the digest show event titles and times, which come from your screenshots or text. They can show on your lock screen if your phone is set to show notifications there.
  • Depending on your reminder mode, the app sets an alarm on the calendar event instead of, or as well as, its own notification.
  • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED lets Android restore scheduled reminders after a restart.
  • You can turn each type off in the app, or all of them in Android settings. Delete all data cancels them.

Photos and sharing in

You pick an image with the system picker, or share an image or text to the app. The app reads only the item you pick or share. It does not scan your gallery. On Android 12 and older a storage permission added by a library may be listed. It is not used to browse your files.

What leaves your phone, and only when you choose

The app can make an .ics file and open the Android share sheet, only when you ask. What happens next depends on the app you choose. "Paste text" reads the clipboard only when you tap Paste.

Permissions

  • READ_CALENDAR, WRITE_CALENDAR: described above.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, VIBRATE: for notifications.
  • The app does not use your microphone, camera, contacts or location.

Analytics and advertising

None. The app has no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code.

Data safety summary

  • Collected by the developer: none.
  • Shared with third parties by the developer: none.
  • Processed only on your phone: yes (text recognition, date reading, storage).

Deleting your data

  • Delete an event from its page in the app.
  • Settings, Delete all data removes every saved event, the text read from screenshots, your settings and scheduled notifications.
  • Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored.
  • Events already in your calendar stay there. Delete them in your calendar app, or from the event's page in this app.

Backups

The developer keeps no copy. Android's own device backup may include app data, depending on your phone's settings. The developer does not control that.

Children

The app is not directed at children. It does not collect personal data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at the same address with a new effective date.

--- Owner notes, delete before publishing:

  • app.json lists RECORD_AUDIO, and the expo-image-picker library adds CAMERA. The app uses neither. The policy says it uses neither microphone nor camera. Remove them from app.json (permissions list; set microphonePermission: false and cameraPermission: false on the expo-image-picker plugin; block android.permission.CAMERA and android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO), rebuild, and VERIFY ON DEVICE that neither is requested. If you keep either, rewrite the policy.
  • app.json blockedPermissions has null instead of "android.permission.INTERNET". The build may list INTERNET. The policy says the app has no network code, which is true. Google ML Kit can try to send usage metrics when INTERNET exists. Blocking INTERNET makes "no network" certain. VERIFY ON DEVICE: no network traffic from the app.
